It’s true, we’ve haven’t even wrapped up GiveBIG 2014 yet and here we are already talking about GiveBIG 2015!

We just wanted to let you know that we have reopened new requests from qualified 501(c)(3) organizations who wish to have a profile on our website. If you’re planning to participate in GiveBIG 2015 and your organization does not yet have a profile on our website, we highly encourage you to start the process now to avoid the last-minute rush (we swear, May will be here again before you know it!). Phew! It took us a little while, but we are happy to share with you the final GiveBIG numbers, top 50 nonprofits by number of donations and amount raised, and amount raised by giving area. In all, GiveBIG raised $12.88 million for 1,471 organizations–with a whopping 64,269 gifts made by 33,670 people! You can see all of the final results on our website.

Also, we wanted to share some answers to recent questions and issues pertaining to your Click & Pledge accounts:

The stretch percentage: Donations of up to $5,000 per donor, per organization are eligible for stretch dollars. This year’s stretch percentage is 8.3 percent. To clarify: this $5,000 cap applies to individual donations. It does NOT mean that we will only stretch the first $5,000 that your organization received on GiveBIG day!

Stretch pool checks: You should receive your checks early to mid-June. Around the same time, we will email an online survey to participating nonprofits, inviting you to give us feedback on GiveBIG 2014. We encourage you to share your candid opinions on the event through this anonymous survey, to help us in planning for future GiveBIG events.

Backing out transactions: Donors may have inadvertently given to an organization other than the one they intended, or may have mistakenly given more than they intended. Using the Click & Pledge portal, you can easily credit a transaction using the Virtual Terminal function; however, it is best to credit a transaction the day it happens to avoid a charge-back fee. After the day of the transaction, an alternative would be to issue a refund check to the donor. It is not possible to adjust a gift amount or reassign the donation to another organization using the Click & Pledge system.

Post-GiveBIG unusual activity: In the last few days, we’ve heard from 3 of the 1,600 organizations with profiles on our website of unusual charges (unusual amounts, unknown donors, countries outside the U.S.) going through their Click & Pledge donation pages. These charges are an annoyance and are likely the result of what is called carding–where credit card thieves test the validity of stolen credit cards. Nonprofit organizations are targeted because we often have the most easy-to-use checkout pages on the web, and this type of activity is, unfortunately, common. This has nothing to do with Click & Pledge’s website security, which is of the highest level–and donor information is not at risk. TransFirst Bank and Click & Pledge have standard procedures in place for these situations and are addressing the issue in their systems. These appear to be isolated events, but if you have noticed any unusual transactions, please contact givebig@seattlefoundation.org.

Thank you for all your efforts to make GiveBIG 2014 an amazing success. In 24 hours, together we were able to raise $12.8 million for more than 1,470 nonprofits in our community, with more than 64,000 individual gifts made!

We are still calculating the final stretch pool and stretch pool percentage and will share those figures with your organizations as soon as possible.

Here’s what to expect from us in the coming weeks:

Now: Donations should have been deposited by now into the bank account associated with your Click & Pledge account. To check how much your organization raised and access donor information, visit https://portal.clickandpledge.com to log in and run a report. (For fiscally sponsored organizations, please contact your fiscal agent for reports.) 

  • If you need to reset your password to log in to Click & Pledge, please go to https://portal.clickandpledge.com and select “Reset Your Account Login Info.” (Your login is the email address associated with your organization’s Click & Pledge account.)
  • If you don’t know how to run a report, read this. Other information on how to credit transactions, run a duplicate receipt, and enter a transaction with the Click & Pledge virtual terminal can be found here.
  • If you have any other issues accessing your Click & Pledge account, please fill out a help ticket and put “TSF GiveBIG” in the subject line to expedite your request.

By early June: Checks for your organization’s portion of the stretch pool will have been sent. Around the same time, we will email an online survey to participating nonprofits, inviting you to give us feedback on GiveBIG 2014. We encourage you to share your candid opinions on the event through this anonymous survey, to help us in planning for future GiveBIG events.

On June 10: The 2.85% transaction fee will be taken out of the bank account associated with your Click & Pledge account. PLEASE DO NOT CLOSE YOUR CLICK & PLEDGE OR TRANSFIRST MERCHANT ACCOUNT BEFORE THIS DATE. In fact, there is no need to close it. The only time you are charged fees is when you receive donations, so it’s easier to leave your account open. Remember that your profile is active on The Seattle Foundation’s website all year round and can receive donations at any time.

Wow! Great news!

We’re excited to announce that American Express will be available as a credit card option for GiveBIG donors, at the same rate of 2.85%. This is the first time we’ve been able to offer American Express for GiveBIG.

Because this is a new service for GiveBIG, please be sure to notify Click & Pledge of any problems with American Express donations, at http://help.clickandpledge.com/customer/portal/emails/new (put “TSF GiveBIG” in the subject line) or via live support between 9 a.m. and midnight on GiveBIG day (May 6) at https://www3.gotomeeting.com/join/438659166.

We’ve heard that some of your donors are so excited about GiveBIG that they have already started making donations! If this is the case, then you can actually back out donations using your Click & Pledge account. Here’s how:

Please note: before you back out a donation, you should probably check with the donor first to make sure they are OK with backing out the donation and making it again on May 6. We have actually heard of some donors in the past who have let the nonprofit keep the donation, but still make another donation on GiveBIG day, too!

Secondly, we have heard from many of you with web browser questions. Our online donation form works best when you have the latest version of whichever web browser you choose to use. We developed this handy reference guide for the three most common (Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox).

Thirdly, we’re pleased to let you know that Click & Pledge has set up live support for you from 9 a.m. to midnight (Pacific Time) through GoToMeeting. This GoToMeeting is exclusively for Seattle Foundation GiveBIG nonprofits. Just visit https://www3.gotomeeting.com/join/438659166 and follow the directions on the screen.

You can also file Click & Pledge support tickets by going to http://help.clickandpledge.com/customer/portal/emails/new (put “TSF GiveBIG” in the subject line).

Use either the GoToMeeting link or file a support ticket for help with Click & Pledge logins, how-tos, and account problems.

  • TEST YOUR ACCOUNT:  Have you or someone from your organization tested your “Donate Now” button on your Seattle Foundation profile? If not, please do so right now. It will be extremely difficult for us to address any account issues on the day of GiveBIG. Please test now so that Click & Pledge can fix any problems in advance of the event. Instructions for how to test your account can be found here.
  • FIND YOUR PROFILE URL: You can find your nonprofit’s URL on www.seattlefoundation.org by looking at the address bar on your organization’s profile page. (You can always find your profile by going to our website and using the search box in the upper righthand corner of the page.) Anything that is after the “aspx” is not necessary for your supporters to find your page, and you can simplify your URL by deleting anything after that. Your “clean” URL will look something like this: www. seattlefoundation.org/ npos/Pages/YourOrganizationName.aspx. Before you post your nonprofit organization’s URL, be sure to test the link!
  • THANK YOUR SPONSORS: We’ve hit the $1 million mark for the stretch pool, thanks in large part to these amazing sponsors!
  • SHARE YOUR EVENTS WITH US: We’ll be documenting the event like we did last year (check out this video) and will be sending a film crew around the city to different nonprofit GiveBIG events.
