The Seattle Foundation’s GiveBIG challenge is a unique, one-day, online event encouraging residents of King County to be part of the biggest day of giving in King County history by making a donation to a local nonprofit of their choosing. Every contribution will be increased by funds provided by The Seattle Foundation and GiveBIG sponsors. Additionally, throughout the day “Golden Tickets” will be randomly drawn and a lucky donor will have their contribution matched with an additional $1,000. Built on the successful models from other cities, GiveBIG will raise money for the community, bring new donors to local nonprofits and help make our region a more vital place to live.

GiveBIG donations will be made through The Seattle Foundation’s online Giving Center, which includes information and evaluation of more than 1,200 nonprofit organizations working on a broad range of issues: Arts & Culture, Basic Needs, Economy, Education, Environment, Health & Wellness, and Neighborhoods & Communities. The Seattle Foundation will not collect fees or donor information from contributions so that the nonprofit organizations receive the maximum benefit.

Our first GiveBIG event took place on June 23, 2011, raising $4.1 million for nonprofit organizations in 17 hours. We are very pleased to announce that Seattle Sounders FC will be partnering with us in Spring 2012 to present our second annual GiveBIG!
