Am I Ready for GiveBIG?

If you have submitted your organization’s profile updates and have successfully tested the Donate Now button, you are all set for GiveBIG 2015! Your organization is automatically entered into a drawing for a $100 Taco Time gift card courtesy of returning sponsor, Taco Time, if you complete testing by midnight on April 15. If you haven’t submitted your profile updates or tested the Donate Now button, read on.

Profile Updates Due April 15

April 15 is coming up. Have you submitted your profile updates? Please get your profile updates in so we will have time to format and publish them before the event.

I Can’t Find My Organization’s Profile on The Seattle Foundation Website

We are caught up on all new profiles that have been submitted. If you don’t see your profile but you believe you have completed it, please go to www.seattlefoundation.org and choose Your Account. Select the NPO Profile tab and click on your organization’s name at the bottom of that screen. Check your updates and then scroll to the bottom of the screen and choose Submit. It may take us a few days to get your submission formatted and published. If your profile is new to the website, you will receive an email from us.

Donate Now Button Testing

Test Your Donate Now Link by Midnight on April 15 for Gift Card Drawing

Please run a small credit card transaction through the Donate Now button on your organization’s profile by midnight on Wednesday (April 15) to be automatically entered into a drawing for a $100 Taco Time gift card from our returning sponsor, Taco Time. More importantly, your test will confirm that your Click & Pledge account is active and ready to receive donations during GiveBIG. Even if you miss the deadline for the drawing, you should still test your Donate Now button.

My Transaction Didn’t Go Through When I Tested My Donate Now Button

We have heard from several of you that changed banks since last year’s event and then had trouble running the test transaction through your Donate Now button. Closing a bank account is the most common reason that a Click & Pledge transaction fails in testing. It is easily fixed with a call to TransFirst (the merchant bank that processes credit card payments for Click & Pledge): 800-654-9256. Please have a statement handy if you don’t know your merchant ID.

I Don’t See a Credit Card Option on My Organization’s Profile

Some of you have not completed the Click & Pledge sign-up process. If you don’t see a credit card option on the Donate Now button on your organization’s profile on The Seattle Foundation website, please check your email for recent correspondence from TransFirst or call 800-654-9256 to check on the status of your account.

GiveBIG Media Opportunities: Tell Us About YOUR Day of Champions

Please let us know if you are planning any live events or fun online activities as part of your GiveBIG strategy. Our media partners are looking for good stories to tell about participating organizations. Email us at givebig@seattlefoundation.org add Media Opportunities to the subject line of  your email.

GiveBIG is coming fast. May 5 will be here before you know it! Apologies for the long post but we have a lot to cover.

It is great to see how many of you are updating your profiles and testing your Click & Pledge links. Don’t forget to download the Nonprofit Toolkit for tips on promoting your organization.

Have You Tested Your Donate Now Button Yet?

Full Life Care, The Rescue Mission, Washington Budget and Policy Center, Congregations for the Homeless and Cascadia Community College Foundation, along with over 500 of you who also tested your active Click & Pledge accounts, were included in the random drawing. Full Life Care won a $100 Starbucks card and the other organizations mentioned each won a $50 Restaurants.com coupon courtesy of Click & Pledge.

Didn’t win or haven’t tested yet?

We will be selecting one lucky nonprofit organization at random to receive a $100 Taco Time gift card from our sponsor Taco Time. If you tested already, you are automatically included in this next drawing (previous winners are not eligible). We will select from test transactions made from March 1 through midnight on April 15.

If you have an active Click & Pledge account and haven’t submitted a small credit card donation through the Donate Now button on your organization’s profile, here’s what you need to do:

  • Find your organization’s profile using the search box on www.seattlefoundation.org.
  • Hover over the Donate Now button with your mouse and choose Make a Credit Card Donation.
  • Make a small donation (even $1 is fine) and review the receipt. If you need to update the contact information on the receipt, please follow the instructions in this previous blog entry. Please wait 1 business day after you update the contact information to test it again. You only need to do one test to be eligible for the drawing.

Not finding your profile? Please email us at givebig@seattlefoundation.org and include your organization name.

What If You Don’t See the Credit Card Donation Option?

Some of you are still working through the Click & Pledge sign-up process. We will email you when the credit card donation link has been added to your organization’s profile. We are currently up-to-date on new active Click & Pledge accounts but yours may still be in the pipeline.

If you do not see the credit card donation link under the Donate Now button on your organization’s profile, and you believe you have completed the Click & Pledge/TransFirst sign up process, please check your email for an acknowledgement message from TransFirst and forward the email to givebig@seattlefoundation.org. If you can’t find an acknowledgement email, please call TransFirst at 800-654-9256 to check on the status of your application.

Where’s My Profile/Profile Update?

We are up-to-date on publishing new profiles but we are working through a backlog of updates to existing profiles.  If you are not finding your profile and you are new to the website, please go back into the edit form and choose Submit. That alerts the team that your profile is ready to be published. Please allow us a few days to get your new  profile edited and published. If your profile is new to the website, we will email your organization to notify you that it is live.

Important Dates

April 15: Profiles Updates Are Due

We can’t guarantee that profile updates submitted after this date will be live for the event. Please be patient with our staff as we are working with over 1700 organizations this year.

Click & Pledge accounts must be active by this date. We will begin removing organizations that do not have an active Click & Pledge account starting Friday, April 17.

This blog is intended for organizations participating in The Seattle Foundation’s GiveBIG event, coming up on May  5. If we have a specific question about your organization’s profile or Click & Pledge account, we will contact you directly. If you have any questions about GiveBIG, please email us at givebig@seattlefoundation.org. Three staff members are fielding questions in the mailbox and email is the best way to reach us at this busy time.

Please note that organizations that solicit charitable donations from the public in Washington State, including GiveBIG fundraising activities, must register with the WA Secretary of State (SOS) Charities Program. You can verify your organization’s registration status using the search tool at http://www.sos.wa.gov/charities/search.aspx. If your organization is not currently registered, the “Charitable Organization Registration / Renewal” form is available on the SOS website at http://www.sos.wa.gov/charities/AllForms.aspx#charity

If you have questions about this registration requirement, please contact the SOS Charities Program directly at charities@sos.wa.gov or (360) 725-0378.

Testing, Testing…

Thank you to those of you who have already run a test transaction through the Donate Now button on your organization’s profile. We have changed the receipt correction process since last year (an updated version of the Nonprofit Toolkit reflects this update).

You no longer need to email us to make changes to the receipt address and contact information. You can now log in to the Click & Pledge portal to update the address and contact information that shows up on the donation receipt.

  1. Log in to https://portal.clickandpledge.com and choose Account Info in the upper right portion of the screen.
  2. You will be on the Your Profile tab.
  3. Choose the Edit option beside each section that needs to be updated.
  4. Make your change and choose Update to save your changes.
  5. Wait 1 business day before you test again. There is an overnight process that needs to run.

If you have any issues updating the information, please contact Click & Pledge with “TSF GiveBIG” in the subject line: http://help.clickandpledge.com/customer/portal/emails/new

Haven’t run a test transaction yet? Please run a small credit card donation through your organization’s Donate Now button (if you do not see the credit card option, your Click & Pledge link has not been added yet or you have not completed the application process). You should get a receipt via email. Review the receipt and see the steps above if you need to make any changes to the contact information. If you do not receive a receipt, please check your junk mail folder.

Profile Updates

Please continue to submit your profile updates. We are busily reviewing and posting your changes. If your profile is new or you have just completed the Click & Pledge signup process, we will notify you via email when your changes are live. We appreciate your patience as we assist over 1600 organizations as we all prepare for the big day. The deadline for profile updates is April 15 but we encourage you to submit them as soon as possible.

The GiveBIG Team

Nonprofit Toolkit
All the tools you need to rally your champions in the community are in the GiveBIG Nonprofit Toolkit, available now on the GiveBIG Nonprofit Resources page. The kit includes logos, graphics, email samples and social media tips to help you get the word out and make the fifth year of GiveBIG your biggest year yet.

Where’s My Profile?
Search was down on The Seattle Foundation website last week but it is back up and running. If your organization has an existing profile on our website, now would be a great time to review it. Use the search box in the upper right portion of most pages on www.seattlefoundation.org. Profile updates are due by April 15.

If your profile is new, we are working through a backlog of submissions and we will notify you via email when your profile is live. We appreciate your patience. Don’t forget to choose Submit when you have finished editing so we know you are done. We review and format your changes before publishing nonprofit profile updates.

Returning Click & Pledge Users
If your organization participated last year, all you need to do is run a small credit card transaction through the Donate Now button on your organization’s profile. Check the receipt text for any out-of-date information. You can log in to portal.clickandpledge.com to update your address and contact information. Choose Account Info in the upper right portion of the screen. You can edit each item that needs to be corrected. When you choose Update, that change will be reflected on the receipts. Please contact Click & Pledge directly if you have any trouble updating your contact information (mention TSF GiveBIG in the subject line to expedite your request): http://help.clickandpledge.com/customer/portal/emails/new

New to Click & Pledge This Year?
Thanks to all of you who have returned your TransFirst contracts. TransFirst is the merchant bank that processes credit card payments for Click & Pledge. If you returned your contract in the last few days, the link may not be live yet on The Seattle Foundation website. We will email you when your Click & Pledge link is added to your organization’s profile.

If you haven’t emailed the contract to TransFirst, please do so as soon as possible to ensure your account will be live in time for the event. If you believe your account should be live by now, please forward your acknowledgement email on to givebig@seattlefoundation.org and we will investigate.

Profile Submissions
Thank you to all of you who have submitted new profiles or profile updates. We are working through a backlog of requests. If your profile is new to the website, we will email you when it is live.

Many of you have started the process with Click & Pledge or recently submitted your signed contracts. We are adding the credit card donation links for completed contracts and will notify you when the link has been added. GiveBIG is Tuesday, May 5, 2015, and this year’s theme is “Day of Champions.”

Whether you’re a Seahawk or a Sounder, a nonprofit organization leader promoting equity in underserved areas of King County or a tireless food bank staffer raising money to keep the shelves stocked, you’re a champion, and we want to celebrate that. On GiveBIG day, we’re stepping up to the plate to raise money for more than 1,600 nonprofits in greater Seattle.

Let’s encourage the public to score that game-winning goal in the form of a contribution to an organization that’s igniting change in our community. We’re all in this together, and we’re going to cross the finish line and make this year’s GiveBIG a true “Day of Champions.”

To help your nonprofit organization attract MVP-worthy support on GiveBIG day, we’re putting together a toolkit that contains helpful hints, tips, tools, and advice for the event. It will also include the latest GiveBIG logo and other design tools for use on the web and social media.

The toolkit will be available for download here later this week.
